Gazprom and Wintershall celebrate 25 years of co-operation

An event celebrating 25 years of scientific and technical co-operation between Gazprom and Wintershall Holding was held in St Petersburg on 21 December.

Gazprom and Wintershall considered their partnership. The parties noted the successes that they have achieved by implementing scientific and technical programmes for natural gas exploration, production and transportation. They also highlighted several successful collaborative projects for intellectual property management, environmental safety monitoring and the development of modern dispatching methods and tools.

The experience that the companies have gained via the abovementioned activities has been beneficial in the development the Yuzhno-Russkoye and the Urengoyskoye fields. Their extensive experience has also enhanced the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

Gazprom and Wintershall also celebrated 25 years of co-operation in staff training and development. The parties have arranged over 400 professional development programmes, involving over 6000 people.

“The partnership between Gazprom and Wintershall Holding is based on sharing knowledge and experience. The results of our work throughout 25 years are best reflected in our key projects – the shining examples of efficient and mutually beneficial collaboration creating new opportunities for further development,” said Sergey Khomyakov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee.

“Wintershall set a precedent for energy co-operation with Russia in many sectors of the industry. Together with Gazprom, we started delivering gas directly to Europe and became the first German company invited to take part in gas production in Siberia,” said Thilo Wieland, Member of the Executive Board of Wintershall Holding.
