Oil has been placed in the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL), according a federal court filing submitted by Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) – the company behind the pipeline. ETP is currently in the process of making the final preparations to begin moving the oil and, therefore, putting the pipeline into service.

“Oil has been placed in DAPL underneath Lake Oahe. DAPL is currently commissioning the full pipeline and is preparing to place the pipeline into service,” the company said.
With extensive protests since April 2016, the pipeline is months behind schedule. Therefore, this development is a significant milestone for ETP.
The company did not reveal exactly when it expects to start making deliveries through the 1172 mile line.
