Phase II works on replacing road crossings of the Omsk-Sokur petroleum product trunk pipeline (PPTP) were completed in the responsibility area of the Omsk Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD): a branch of Transneft Western Siberia. The specialists hooked up three crossings to the existing PPTP system.
The technical upgrading of the Omsk-Sokur petroleum product was implemented to increase its reliability in further operations. Eight road crossings of the Omsk-Sokur PPTP were replaced. The work was done in Omsk and Kormilovsky districts of Omsk region in two phases. The length of all eight sections totalled some 2.47 km.
Replacement of the PPTP road crossings accounted for unfavourable geotechnical phenomena of the areas, including the likelihood of flooding and seasonal soil freezing. Ballasts of polymer containers were used to create negative buoyancy at the replaced sections. Custom-made heat shrinkable sleeves were applied in insulation and laying operations to encapsulate the welded joints of the casing.
Nowadays, professionals have been connecting electrochemical protection at the facility, performing technical and biological rehabilitation of lands, mounting the identification signs. The road crossings at the Omsk-Sokur PPTP are expected to be brought online in November 2017.
Environmental protection measures were in focus in technical upgrading of the road crossings at the Omsk-Sokur PPTP. The vehicle idling time was reduced to the minimum, low sulfur fuel was used, plus regular exhaust gas toxicity checks were held to minimise the air pollution.
Replacement of railway crossings at the Omsk-Sokur PPTP has been planned for this year, pursuant to the Technical Upgrading, Revamping, and Overhaul Programme of Transneft Western Siberia. Overall, 10 railway crossings are being replaced at the Tatarskaya - Barabinsk and Barabinsk - Chulym sections of the Omsk-Sokur PPTP.
