The National Energy Board (NEB or the Board) is making available a total of US$250 000 under its Participant Funding Program to assist landowners, Aboriginal groups, incorporated non-industry, not-for-profit organisations, and other interested persons who participate in the regulatory process hearing for the proposed NOVA Gas Transmission Limited (NGTL) 2017 System Expansion Project. A higher amount may be considered once applications for funding are received.

NGTL filed a project description [Filing A65036] on 15 December 2014, informing the Board that an application seeking approval to build and operate new pipeline facilities as part of its existing NGTL system will be submitted in the first quarter of 2015. The proposed project would include five separate pipeline sections in northern Alberta, totalling 230 km, and additional compression facilities. Funding is being made available to help those persons who are directly affected or have relevant information or expertise, to prepare for hearing related activities, including reviewing and commenting on the project.

A preliminary List of Issues identifying the topics that the Board may consider during the review process is available on the NEB’s website. This list may be updated after the application has been filed. To receive funding, an interested person must submit an Application to Participate and be accepted as an Intervenor in the NEB’s regulatory process for this project.
