The National Energy Board (NEB) has approved revised tolls and tariff for TransCanada PipeLines Limited’s Mainline System. The reasons for the decision will be published in the coming weeks. The TransCanada Mainline collects about CAN$1.6 billion in revenue annually.

This decision approves the applied-for toll design for Mainline tolls for 2015 to 2020 and certain parameters for a toll-setting methodology up to 2030. The NEB finds the resulting tolls would be just and reasonable and not unjustly discriminatory. The decision also approves tariff changes that introduce new services and contract options.

TransCanada’s application represented a common position between TransCanada and the three largest Mainline customers and largest Canadian local distribution companies – Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc., Union Gas Limited and Gaz Métro Limited Partnership.

The decision continues the concept of multi-year fixed tolls and pricing discretion, as established in a previous decision (RH-003-2011). The NEB is of the view that this will provide long-term toll stability and certainty along the Mainline.
