Colorado Petroleum Council receive awards

Colorado Petroleum Council’s Associate Director, Carrie Hackenberger, was named a 2019 Experience Energy GRIT award winner in the Professionals category. The Colorado Petroleum Council, US, likewise received a GRIT award in the Industry Advocacy category.
The GRIT AwardsSM and Best Energy WorkplacesSM, sponsored by Medallia and held in Houston, Texas, were created to recognise female leaders in energy and the male allies who advocate for their advancement. Nearly 300 nominations poured in from across the world from oil and gas, utilities, and alternative energy companies, as well as non-government organisations (NGOs) and academia. Best Energy Workplaces was added in 2019 to give recognition to outstanding energy employers.
“Experience Energy does a truly remarkable job of promoting inclusion, diversity, and opportunity in the energy industry,” said Hackenberger, whose efforts during the debate over Senate Bill 181 received special note. “It is a special honour to receive recognition from an organisation that I admire so greatly, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to continue building a career in this important line of work.”
The Colorado Petroleum Council was similarly honoured for its advocacy efforts. “We are proud to be a leading voice for our state’s natural gas and oil industry and are honoured to be recognised among our colleagues. Our industry is and will remain focused on innovation, health and public safety, and the environment for decades to come. Working each and every day alongside the women and men who make natural gas and oil what it is brings out the best of our team, and we look forward to continue leading this important charge,” said Hackenberger.
The Colorado Petroleum Council is a division of API, which represents all segments of the US oil and natural gas industry. The council members, of whom there are over 600, produce, process, and distribute most of the nation’s energy. The industry supports 10.3 million US jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 47 million Americans. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organisation. In its first 100 years, API has developed more than 700 standards to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability.
