World Pipelines,
The Cluster 8, is a cluster of wells developed offshore by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, or ONGC, the largest crude oil or natural gas company in India, contributing to around 75% to Indian domestic production.
Due to a government strategy requiring that the country become more self-sufficient in terms of energy, India has become a highly critical market for Vallourec.
For this project, submarine pipelines were used to connect several wellhead platforms, which are ultimately connected to Mumbai.
Serimax reports that 99.7% of welds were spotless on this 60 km pipeline. In terms of productivity, 3.5 km per day has been reached on the 6 in. line.
“Maintaining an extremely low repair rate and high productivity is key to remain the welding partner of choice for our customers. We have made this project our reference for our great Indian track record”: Mathieu Beaujon, Head of Project Department at Serimax.
