Poland and Baltic states to sign pipeline deal

According to The Financial Times, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are to sign a deal regarding the build of a 534 km GIPL pipeline. The pipeline will run from Rembelszczyzna, Poland, to Jauniunai, Lithuania. From Lithuania, it will be distribute gas across the Baltic nations.

The project is expected to total €558 million, half of which will be provided by the European Commission. It will have a capacity of 2.5 billion m3, potentially rising to 4 billion m3.

The nations’ leaders are expected to sign contracts on 15 October at an EU summit in Brussels.
