World Pipelines,
API President and CEO Jack Gerard strongly supports the latest bipartisan Senate effort to get the Keystone XL pipeline approved. “The bipartisan Senate legislation to approve KXL reflects the will of the American people," said Gerard. "Just last week, nearly 75% of voters said they wanted the pipeline built. The project continues to enjoy strong bipartisan support, because six years of federal reviews have all concluded the project is environmentally sound, a boon for job creation, and a net benefit to our economy.”
"Enhancing our nation's energy security through the construction of a critical infrastructure project should be a no brainer,” Gerard continued. “We applaud Congress's bipartisan leadership and hope President Obama will see this as an opportunity to work with Congress on a bipartisan basis for our country's future.”
API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million US jobs and 8% of the US economy.
