Energy Transfer has made a statement regarding the recent decision on the Dakota Access pipeline.
Energy Transfer wrote “We would like to provide further clarification around news reports out today regarding the operations of the Dakota Access Pipeline. To be clear, we have never suggested that we would defy a court order. Rather, DAPL is seeking appropriate relief from that order through the established legal process.”
On Monday, a federal judge ordered the shutdown of the Dakota Access pipeline until an environmental review can be completed.
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier in the year allowing for the completion of the Dakota Access pipeline after the Obama administration blocked it over environmental concerns.
US District Judge James Boasberg said the pipeline must be closed within the next 30 days. He ordered the US Army Corps of Engineers to re-examine the risks of the pipeline and prepare a full environmental impact statement.
