World Pipelines,
The Balticconnector project on the Finnish side has reached a phase where the construction works have been completed and the onshore pipeline has been filled with gas. The trial run of the Inkoo compressor station was successfully completed in October. During November, the offshore pipeline will be filled with gas and connected to Estonia’s gas transmission network. After this phase, the pipeline will be ready for commercial use as of 1 January 2020.
“It has been a pleasure to witness the completion of each phase of the project on schedule. We are getting closer to the moment when all work is completed and the pipeline is left on standby to wait for the opening of the gas market on 1 January 2020. At this point, we can already say that the pipeline will be ready for use on schedule,” says Herkko Plit, President and CEO of Baltic Connector Oy.
On Tuesday 5 November 2019, representatives of the media got a chance to visit the completed Inkoo compressor station and get the latest news on the progress of the project. The completion of the project will be marked with a commissioning celebration on 11 December 2020 with stakeholders and guests in Finland and Estonia.
