Bulgartransgaz begins construction of CS Rasovo and CS Nova Provadia

Following a public procurement Bulgartransgaz EAD signed a contract with DZZD FERROSTAAL BALKANGAZ for investment design, procurement of the necessary materials and equipment, construction and commissioning of CS Rasovo and CS Nova Provadia.

Their construction will increase the pressure along the route of the infrastructure from the Turkish-Bulgarian to the Bulgarian-Serbian border - Balkan Stream part of the concept for European gas distribution hub Balkan in Bulgaria. The expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure on the territory of the country will enhance the natural gas security of supply from different sources and will provide prerequisites for increasing the competition on the market.

“Today's signing brings us closer to the implementation of the updated Energy Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria,” said Mrs. Temenuzhka Petkova, Minister of Energy. In her words, the government is firmly behind the projects for the construction of the necessary infrastructure and gas exchange that will diversify natural gas sources and routes in the region. “The participation of international companies guarantees the implementation of the project for expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure within the set deadlines,” said Mr. Vladimir Malinov, Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz EAD.

On behalf of Bulgartransgaz EAD the contract was signed by Mr. Lyubomir Krastev, Head of Public Procurement Award Department, and by Mr. Konstantin Kisev on behalf of DZZD FERROSTAAL BALKANGAZ. The total amount of the contract is BGN 350,832,437.59. w/o VAT. DZZD FERROSTAAL BALKANGAZ is an association of two Bulgarian and one foreign company with members: Ferrostaal Industrieanlagen GmbH - Germany, Glavbolgarstroy AD and Glavbolgarstroy International AD. The subcontractors declared by the association are: Solar Turbines Europe S.A. - Belgium, Turbo Machine Bulgaria EOOD and Chimcomplect Engineering AD. Compressor Station Nova Provadia will be located in the region of Vetrino village, Vetrino Municipality, Varna District and will be equipped with four gas turbine compressor units with a 10 MW capacity each. Compressor Station Rasovo will be located in the lands of Rasovo village, Medkovets Municipality, Montana District and will be equipped with three gas turbine compressor units with a 12 MW capacity each.

The compressor units provided for both stations are the latest generation, manufactured by the US company Solar Turbines, which is an industry leader. They will be equipped with low emission combustion chambers which meet the requirements of the highest ecological requirements.
