World Pipelines,
SONATRACH has announced that it has successfully completed, in partnership with Eni, the construction of the gas pipeline which links the sites of Bir Rebaa Nord and Menzel Ledjmet Est in the Berkine Basin, in the southern part of Algeria, 320 km from Hassi Messaoud, Wilaya of Ouargla.
The 185 km long, 16 in. diameter gas pipeline has the capacity to transport 7 million m3/d of gas.
The project will allow the export of the associated gas and the development of the gas fields of the North Berkine blocks, where the drilling and connections of the first four wells have been completed, only one year since the entry into agreements signed in February 2019.
In addition, the production of the oilfields of these same blocks started in May 2019, with development continuing during the current year.
The project is an example to capitalise on, as it saw a shared commitment by SONATRACH and Eni, based on a common strategy for reducing lead times and on the quality and capacity of the subsidiaries of the SONATRACH Group which have carried out the project.
In fact, the Berkine Nord gas project will provide daily production of 6.5 million m3 of gas and 10 000 bbls of associated liquids.
With the development of the oil, total production will reach 65 000 boe/d during the year 2020.
