Transneft Diascan has participated in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) – 2018, one of the major world oil and gas events.

The company showcased a model of its combined magnetic and ultrasonic inspection tool on the Transneft booth. The device, which has no analogues in the world, was developed by Transneft Diascan engineers and is a unique software-hardware system which allows the device to combine the functions of two ultrasonic inspection tools (WM and CD) as well as a magnetic defectoscope (MFL).

The pig allows for simultaneous detection and measuring of all kinds of flaws within the pipe body and in its transverse and longitudinal welds in just one run, compared to the inspection carried out by separate inline flaw detectors. Moreover, the information obtained by this combined tool is more accurate than that of three single-section devices. In addition, it eliminates data alignment errors resulting from location inaccuracies and time delays that occur when several inspection tools are used. Thus, reliable detection and measurement of dangerous combined defects is ensured.

Transneft Diascan’s flaw detectors range includes combined magnetic and ultrasonic inspection tools for pipelines with a 20 in. to 48 in. diameter.
