Novinium and AREVA provide cable services to nuclear industry
AREVA Inc. has signed an agreement with Novinium® to provide patented rejuvenation technology to the nuclear industry.
This partnership is the first of its kind in the industry, and will provide nuclear power plants with a safe and cost-effective solution to extend the life of underground cable infrastructure.
Cable rejuvenation technology
As part of its ‘Forward Alliance’ program for the optimisation of nuclear power plant safety and operations, AREVA will offer Novinium’s Ultrinium™ fluid using its patented sustained pressure rejuvenation (SPR) injection method for nuclear power plant applications.
Novinium’s cable rejuvenation technology restores the full dielectric strength of a cable to like-new condition, and extends the life and reliability of these cables for a further 40 years at a fraction of the cost for a traditional cable replacement.
Safety and reliability
Tom French, senior vice president of Reactors and Services at AREVA, commented: “At AREVA, we take every opportunity to better serve our utility customers. With Novinium as a partner, our customers will have access to a technology that can improve the safety, performance and long-term reliability of their cable infrastructure, an important consideration when renewing licenses at nuclear power plants.”
“Nuclear plant operators will now have streamlined access to the same proven methods which hundreds of Novinium’s customers have come to rely on for increasing cable reliability,“ added Glen Bertini, Novinium’s CEO.
