The high resolution WM identifies the position and the size of such flaws as corrosion, lamination and groove. The principle of operation of the tool is based on the method of ultrasonic thickness measurement – sensors of the flaw detector scan the entire surface of a pipe and measure its thickness.
The MFL+WM+CD is the flagship of the pipeline inspection equipment line, which is developed and manufactured by Transneft Diascan. Joining two main non-destructive testing methods in the same piece of equipment allows an efficient combination of their advantages, since the defects, which are nearly invisible when using one physical principal (e.g. ultrasonic) usually clearly visible when using the other (magnetic) one, and vice versa.
