Garlock, a leading manufacturer of high-performance fluid sealing and pipeline protection products, has announced that the Intellectual Property Office of Australia (IP Australia) has officially approved the patent for Garlock THERMa-PUR™ gasketing material.
The Australian Commissioner of Patents granted the approval on August 20, 2015, under patent number 61/405 038.
Garlock THERMa-PUR™ gasketing material is produced using an environmentally friendly, solvent-free process and combines a unique formulation with a fiber core. The gasketing material is specifically designed for extremely high-temperature sealing applications and is ideal for use in:
- Marine and land-based exhaust systems
- Biomass gasification processes
- Oil and gas production
- Mineral and fertilizer processing
- Incineration processes
- Co-generation systems
- Turbocharger equipment
- Process drying equipment
The gasketing material's high-temperature resistance is reliable in both continuous and thermal cycling conditions. Other benefits of using Garlock THERMa-PUR™ gasketing material include its oxidation resistance, hydrophobic and electrical insulation, as well as being easily releasable from flanges and providing an overall improvement in safety.
"Developing the THERMa-PUR gasketing material required years of research and engineering, and this patent assures our Australian customers that they can have full confidence in the quality and reliability of these sealing solutions," said Wayne Evans, Product Engineer and IP lead at Garlock. "By protecting the technology and rigorous manufacturing process of these products, we're ensuring that our customers receive the performance they demand."
The standard patent is valid until 4 October 2031.
