Tis the season… to show them who’s boss. In the balance of power that exists between international energy exporters and their customers, Russia has considerable clout. Its actions over the New Year, whether politically-motivated or not, were a reminder that it is not afraid to wield its power, and also acted as a warning to those of its former Soviet state neighbours who would quibble over price contracts.
