Sawyer Mfg. Company, a manufacturer of pipeline and welding equipment based in Tulsa, Okla., constantly aims to stay on the forefront of finding new business in creative ways, and those creative methods often include being actively involved with government programs and organisations.
Sawyer Mfg. Co. has won several new jobs recently due to the Historically Underutilised Business Zones or HUBZone.
According to the US Small Business Administration’s Web site, the HUBZone programme is designed to “promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing access to more federal contracting opportunities” with the “goal of awarding 3% of all dollars for federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified small business concerns.”
Since becoming involved with the HUBZone programme, Sawyer has seen an uptick in government contracts, and Scott Persson, Sawyer Vice President, said that is no coincidence.
“The HUBZone programme has long been something we have wanted for Sawyer, and since achieving our certification, we have seen many new business opportunities that can be directly attributed to the program. We believe this program will add value to our company and our region for many, many years,” Persson said.
“We feel extremely fortunate and proud to be part of such an elite programme that provides so much good will to small, often-overlooked communities across the nation. Being recognised with the HUBZone certification is important for Sawyer Manufacturing and our entire region since it provides many opportunities for government work to our part of Oklahoma that would otherwise go a different direction,” Hembree said.
