World Pipelines,

From pigging to coatings, to cathodic protection, there are plenty of ways to protect a pipeline from corrosion. In the oil and gas industry, those charged with corrosion prevention and control can find the latest in coatings and corrosion technology, standards and expertise in one place, CORROSION 2020.

NACE International brings its annual event back to Houston, Texas, US, this March, and features exhibits and events showcasing the latest industry tools and technologies, plus forums and presentations on best practices for corrosion prevention and control in the oil and gas industry including exploration and production, petroleum refineries, pipelines, tanks, underground storage, materials selection and design, and much more.

NACE International’s team of conference organisers have worked with industry representatives to design a programme that offers professional development opportunities and real-world career resources essential to anyone involved in fighting corrosion: scientists, researchers, engineers, technicians, coatings inspectors and contractors, educators and students, as well as business executives and asset owners.

Of special note on this year’s agenda, NACE is bringing back its popular Protective Coatings Workshop — an interactive, two-day workshop packed with engaging discussion and presentations from coatings industry leaders, plus an introduction to new and emerging technologies and techniques. Designed for coatings applicators, inspectors and contractors of all experience levels, this indispensable workshop is also an opportunity to earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs) and/or Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Some new topics covered this year include:

  • Robotics in inspection.
  • Virtual reality in training and testing.
  • The economics of coatings and coatings inspection.
  • Corrosion under insulation (CUI).

Pipeline operators will not want to miss the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Pipeline Safety Forum presented by Kevin Garrity, Mears, and Alan Mayberry, PHMSA on Tuesday 17 March. During the forum policymakers, regulators, and industry experts will discuss how PHMSA and other agencies address corrosion in pipeline safety. The forum will provide both regulator and industry perspective on best practices and the latest developments in pipeline safety. This meeting includes an annual update from key PHMSA officials and discusses proposed rules that may be considered in 2020.

CORROSION 2020 will be held 15 – 19 March 2020 at the George. R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Registration is now open at www.nacecorrosion.org.
