Ingersoll Rand has introduced the TURBO-AIR® integrally geared centrifugal compressor which will be debuted at the Turbomachinery and Pump Symposia on 14 September 2015, in Houston, Texas.

The TURBO-AIR NX 8000 is rated for powers from 750 kW to 1700 kW, with flows from 142 to 283 m3/min and pressures from 50-210 psig. It can be packaged in compliance with American Petroleum Institute (API) 614, 670, 671 and 672 standards and comes equipped with the following features:

  • MAESTRO™ Universal SP Control System: A split-panel design separates access for single-phase and three-phase circuits. A single-point electrical service connection provides quick, hassle-free installation and maintenance, all while providing exceptional compressor monitoring and set point control.
  • Lubrication System: A coolant-side temperature control valve regulates coolant flow to optimise system efficiency, and the SAE connections ensure a leak-free operation.
  • Compressor Cooling System: The TURBO-AIR standard water-in-tube intercooler design is constructed with high quality materials and precise manufacturing tolerances for distinct heat transfer properties and compressor performance. Interchangeable water headers were specially designed to integrate the water manifold and distribution system with an optional trim valve, again simplifying installation and increasing performance.
  • Gearbox: The unit’s standard design includes a removable cover along a horizontal split-line for ease of inspection and maintenance, and a high-gloss epoxy based exterior finish. The gearbox has been specially designed to deliver oil to the rotating parts of the compressor with very limited piping both internally and externally. Special consideration was also given to enable API-type customisation, including special instrumentation and monitoring mounting locations and access at various points on the gearbox.

Cary Collins, Engineered Centrifugal Compression Leader of the Compressed Air and Gas Systems and Services business at Ingersoll Rand, commented: “The TURBO-AIR NX 8000 will help customers achieve the bottom line results that are at the forefront of every plant manager’s mind; to optimise flow and efficiency in a highly reliable and compact package.”
