Columbia Midstream Group, a unit of Columbia Pipeline Group, has earned the Award for Excellence in Health and Safety – Operational at the Northeast Oil and Gas Awards. The award recognises the company’s commitment to reducing risk for employees and members of the community.

The recognition follows another important safety accolade for CPG. In March, the company was awarded the American Gas Association (AGA) Safety Achievement Award for the third consecutive year.

The 2016 Excellence in Safety and Health Award was presented at the Northeast Oil and Gas Awards recognition dinner on 31 March at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh. Columbia Midstream representatives and CPG safety representatives accepted the award on the company’s behalf.

"This award is another testament to the strong safety culture that we are building here at CPG," said Farrah Lowe, Vice President of Safety, Training and Natural Resource Management. “We continually strive to maintain top decile safety statistics, and work to ensure our employees go home safely to their family and loved ones each day.”

The Northeast Oil and Gas Awards recognise the outstanding achievements made within the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry in the northeastern region of the US. The event serves as a platform for the industry to demonstrate and celebrate the advances made in the key areas of environment, efficiency, innovation, corporate social responsibility, and health and safety. Columbia Midstream previously won the Northeast Oil and Gas Award’s Midstream Company of the Year Award in 2014 and 2015.
