HFT launches PurgEye

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® has launched the hand held, battery powered PurgEye® 200 Weld Purge Monitor®, which meets the needs of higher welding specifications requiring oxygen levels down to as low as 10 ppm.

The PurgEye® 200 is waterproof and dustproof rated to IP65 Standard, has warning icons on the large screen to show low battery, low sensor conditions and also displays oxygen readings in percentage or in ppm very accurately down to 10 ppm.

Luke Keane, Distributor Support for HFT® said: “Weld Purge Monitors® are an essential instrument to help obtain non-oxidised, zero colour welds by monitoring the oxygen level when welding metals such as titanium, zirconium, nickel alloys and high purity stainless steels where high quality and strong welds are required free from metallurgical imperfections. Even though the PurgEye® 200 helps to produce these important zero colour joints it is probably the lowest cost Weld Purge Monitor® of its kind.”

The PurgEye® 200 contains an internal electro-mechanical pump for drawing samples of purge gas automatically over the sensor before discharging it to the atmosphere.

The long life sensor eliminates the need for changing cells once every year. Alarm signals can be given by the PurgEye® 200 to show when the oxygen level is within or outside the required ppm range for perfect weld joints.

Know the advantages of trenching versus excavating

Trencher or excavator? For pipeline distribution, power, water, sewer, gas and underdrain installations, as well as other heavy-duty trenching applications, both machines can do the work, yet excavators continue to be more prevalently used. But, this seems to be largely due to tradition. In fact, many contractors will tell you that they still install product with an excavator because that’s the way they’ve always done it.
