Engineers from Turkey have recently developed MIDAS; a system that provides security and protection from oil and gas pipeline attacks, which occur in the country.
Using fibre optic sensors, the system is able to detect minute activity along the length of a/the pipeline. This includes sensing the movement of cars and people along the length of the right-of-way (ROW), approximately 50 km.
This development of MIDAS has executed at the expense of domestic recourses and research centre NANOTAM.
