Hydratight India has been awarded ‘Strategic Cairn Vendor’ status for successful execution of onsite pipe cutting services during a critical shutdown

Cairn India Ltd is one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration companies in India.  The upstream operator operates several critical pipelines and oil processing complexes.

One of Cairn’s major onshore facilities at Barmer, Rajasthan required onsite pipe cutting at several strategic locations.  This necessitated a critical shutdown of national significance.

The strategic importance of the asset meant all work had to be completed within a strict 24 hour window.  Any overrun would have created unacceptable loss of output and incurred significant financial impact.

The project required multiple simultaneous team mobilizations.  Success hinged on the ability to understand site conditions and plan and execute the complex logistics within a very tight timeframe.

Cairn evaluated potential contractors based on a proven ability to manage complex logistics with no room for error.  Hydratight’s ‘right first time’ philosophy and international reputation for high standards of deliverables helped to secure the critical scope of the competitive tender.

In recognition of the importance of the project, Actuant India made strategic investments in new pipe cutting machines to execute the work.  Hydratight mobilized 11 machines, supported by 25 experienced onsite personnel.  The project was carried out successfully on time and on budget.

Hydratight was the rated as the best contractor and Actuant India was recognized with an award as a Strategic Cairn Vendor for successful project execution.

Siva Prasad Rao, Chief Construction Manager for Cairn India presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Actuant India, “In recognition of the dedicated effort and contribution for the successful, safe and scheduled completion of major shut-down activities at our onshore oil and gas facilities at Barmer, Rajasthan.”

Murali Narasimhan, Hydratight Regional Business Leader – South Asia, said: “It is unusual to undertake a project of this magnitude and complexity within such short timescales.  Hydratight delivered the ideal combination of technical expertise, clockwork planning and practical execution to ensure it was a success.

“The award is testament to the focus, hard work and dedication demonstrated by the Hydratight India team with a concept to completion approach, proving once more that Hydratight is a holistic solutions specialist and not a mere product or a service provider.”
