Intertek to highlight niche corrosion expertise

World Pipelines,

Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has announced that it will present two papers at this year’s NACE East Asia Pacific (EAP) International Conference in order to highlight the expert corrosion services it brings to the region’s oil and gas market.

Scheduled to take place between the 2nd and 4th September in Bali, the EAP International Conference is hosted by the NACE Indonesia Jakarta Section and the theme for this year is corrosion management for asset life extension.

The oil and gas market in Indonesia has undergone significant growth in recent years, prompting both major and minor oil and gas organisations to further develop their presence and operations in the region. Increasing numbers of wells are being explored to meet a higher demand for energy in Indonesia - consumption of which grew by 44% between 2002 and 2012.

As a result, Intertek has witnessed rising demand for services such as chemical evaluations, analytical chemistry and flow assurance solutions. These subjects will be under discussion at the NACE EAP conference alongside cathodic protection, coatings, corrosion monitoring and materials selection and testing.

Raymond Pirie, Vice President of Exploration and Production services at Intertek, said: “We look forward to sharing our expertise with key industry players in the region as we bolster the capabilities we have on offer there. Intertek develops its business by delivering analytical skills where clients need them most.”

“There is a significant requirement to maximise expertise on the ground, which is why we are widening the scope of our in-country laboratories. Demand for our services is increasing as oil and gas activity ramps up in East Asia Pacific.”

Representatives from the oil and gas, marine, petrochemicals and civil construction industries are expected to attend NACE EAP.Intertek’s appearance at the event follows the opening of a production and integrity assurance laboratory in Kuala Lumpur. This regional hub has allowed the organisation to bring its well-established corrosion and materials capabilities to the South East Asia market, reducing turnaround times and providing more focused, localised expertise.
