World Pipelines,
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) issued a decision extending the license of GAZ-SYSTEM to transmit gaseous fuels and a decision extending the period during which the company will perform the function of the gas transmission system operator in Poland.
Both decisions were issued on 6 December 2018, and extend the previous decisions being in force until 2030 by further 38 years – until 6 December 2068.
GAZ-SYSTEM is the sole gas transmission system operator in Poland designated by the President of ERO. The company is an independent entity in terms of its legal and organisational form as well as decision-making processes. According to the decisions of the President of ERO, GAZ-SYSTEM warrants efficient transmission system operation within Poland.
The applications being the basis for the issuance of both decisions by the President of ERO were submitted by GAZ-SYSTEM due to the need of ensuring licensed transmission operations during the upcoming 50 years. This need results from the company’s involvement - along with the Danish transmission system operator, Energinet – in the Baltic Pipe project, which covers the construction of an offshore gas pipeline to connect the transmission systems of Poland and Denmark.
The positive decisions of the President of ERO enable the company to operate on a long-term basis and to implement its investment plans whose primary aim is to diversify supply sources and routes as well as to strengthen the national energy security.
