Technical review of EUGAL completed

The first strand of the EUGAL pipeline lies in the earth, and thus connects the natural gas receiving station in Lubmin (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany) with the gas pressure regulating and gas measuring system in Deutschneudorf (Saxony). Now also the last technical tests of the approximately 480 km long pipeline have been completed.
Recently, experts sent two geometry pigs through the entire pipeline, which scanned the tube for deformations such as bumps and dents. A pig is a cleaning or inspection device, which usually fills the entire inner diameter of the pipeline pipes. These were driven by compressed air in the EUGAL.
After evaluating the extensive data of the geometry pigs, it is clear: the pipeline has passed the test and can be prepared for the next steps in the commissioning process. Currently, the remaining residual moisture in the line is dried with air. The first strand of the EUGAL will be put into operation on 1 January 2020.
