Crondall Energy to showcase pipeline expertise at OPT 2017

David Bruton, Director Subsea at Crondall Energy, will not only facilitate the HPHT stream at the annual conference but will give three pre-conference presentations focusing on lateral buckling and walking of HPHT pipelines, the influence of pipe soil interaction on lateral buckling and pipe walking and the benefits of a full probabilistic approach to lateral buckling design.

David will also jointly present a paper with Ludovic Assier of TOTAL on the mitigation of lateral buckling at an in-line tee, on day two of the main conference.

Joining David are Dr. Murray Anderson and Dr. Ian Frazer. Murray will present a talk on flow assurance challenges in HPHT developments while Ian will chair and introduce the seminar on Advances in Riser and Flexibles Design and Technology.

The annual conference, which is now in its 40th year, will be attended by more than 200 pipeline industry experts from across the world. It allows delegates to connect with the entire offshore pipeline supply chain, make new contacts and find out about innovations within various sectors.

With more than 35 years’ experience as a pipelines specialist in the oil and gas industry, David has worked within operating companies and design consultancies.

He has provided specialist support on high temperature, deepwater pipeline design for numerous international projects, including the direction of specialist pipe-soil interaction research and testing. During his career, David has made a number of engineering innovations and has authored or co-authored thirty-eight technical papers in his specialist field.

David is also the founding member of the newly launched Anchor Pipeline Technology (APT) Joint Industry Partnership (JIP), which brings together the brightest minds in the sector to find new design approaches and techniques to the challenge of pipeline walking. The JIP, which currently includes Crondall Energy, the Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) and Shell aims to improve the design strategies for pipeline ‘walking’ and identify new pipeline monitoring and anchoring systems that can be retrofitted to cut pipeline anchoring installation costs by half. The partnership is hoping to attract additional members in the coming months.
