Bureau Veritas appoints new head of oil and gas

Bureau Veritas, world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, has appointed Lars Kverneland as oil and gas manager for Norway.
With 28 years’ direct industry experience, including project management, unit/business management and personnel development, Lars, who joins Bureau Veritas following the retirement of Steinar Gronsand, plans to share his wealth of experience and skills as Bureau Veritas enters a period of growth and increased optimism within the oil and gas industry.
The mechanical engineer holds key experience from various leadership roles, as well as developing and honing skills within sales and marketing, strategy, technology development, contract and tender negotiation and co-ordination. Most recently, Lars has worked as business support manager for the operations department of DNVGL, oil and gas Norway. Lars has played a pivotal role in various projects over the years with his previous employer acting as project manager for large and multi discipline projects within the offshore industry including work with Norsk Hydro, DONG, Equinor (formerly Statoil), ConocoPhillips and BP.

Commenting on his new role with Bureau Veritas, Lars said: “The oil and gas business has experienced some extremely challenging years since the dramatic drop in oil price back in summer 2014.
“As the market picks up across the globe, the activity in Bureau Veritas Stavanger continues to strengthen. I will do my very best to ensure such development continues, working closely with the wider team to grow and develop our Norwegian base.”
