It has been a landmark year for NDT Global's Canadian operation. This year saw the company successfully achieve 25 years without a loss time incident, an important factor in pipeline integrity management programmes. There have been a number of factors behind this significant milestone, but the focus is predominantly on the staff, whose hard work and endeavor made this feasible.

No time loss in 25 years for NDT Global Canada

The opening of the Petroleum Industry Training Service (PITS) in 1988, close to the location of the company's previous facility, played a significant role in the 25 year landmark. This provided 42 recommendations to the oil and gas industry and mandated worker safety training through the guiding principles.

In 2003, NDT Global Canada attained the Certificate of Recognition (COR) through an extensive third party audit process. Such recognition represented a significant step for the company, as it represented government recognition of its safety programme. Underlining the significance of the operation's perpetual safety performance is the fact that the government annually audits its safety programme to maintain the COR.

The drive towards the safest ILI tools possible

Speaking about the achievement, CEO for NDT Global Canada, Steve Gaida, points towards the commitment at all levels of the company to ensure that safety is a constant driving force.

"Trending changes to our safety programme now focus more on the measurement of leading indicators, as the minimisation of loss is the mainstay to all successful safety programmes. All of the recognition must go to the employees for their active participation in making the company safety programme such a success over the last 25 years," he said.

For the operation to maintain such an immaculate record is testament to its commitment and drive towards maintaining such high standards. Landmarks such as this underline the commitment of NDT Global's worldwide operation to seek continuous improvement in its goal towards eliminating pipeline failure due to pipe integrity defects.
