Energy Industries Council wins King's Award

The King's Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious official recognition for business excellence in the UK. Since its establishment in 1965, it has been awarded to companies that exhibit exceptional accomplishments in areas such as international trade, innovation, and sustainable development.

The EIC is the UK’s largest trade association for the energy industry, representing supply chain companies across the industry. It works to promote the UK’s energy industry abroad and supports its members from around the world in growing their international business.

The EIC was selected for the award in recognition of its global growth and its work to support its members in expanding their international business. The trade association provides a range of services to its members, including market intelligence, export support, and networking opportunities. The EIC also works closely with policy makers from around the world to promote the interests of the energy industry’s supply chain.

Established in 1943 by 13 British manufacturers of petroleum equipment, the EIC has expanded its membership to over 900 businesses. In 1981, the EIC became fully energy agnostic and broadened its focus to encompass the entire energy sector, including renewables, nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture, power, and oil and gas.

Stuart Broadley, the EIC’s CEO, said, "We are delighted to have been awarded the King's Award for Enterprise. This recognition, which comes as we celebrate our 80^th anniversary, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our members and staff, and to the significant role that the energy industry plays in our world. It's especially important now when the industry is working to transition to net-zero while also securing affordable energy supplies to keep the economy running and homes warm."

The EIC is one of 148 businesses to receive the King's Award for Enterprise in 2023. The award will be presented to the EIC at a ceremony later in the year.
