The national company SONATRACH, in partnership with the Directorate of Training and Vocational Education, recently launched the first training promotion pipeline welding for young people in the region.

This ceremony took place in Ouargla in the presence of Sonatrach's CEO, Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, and Wali of Ouargla, Abdelkader Djellaoui.

This training is part of a partnership between the Sonatrach group and the Directorate of Training and Vocational Education.

It is intended as an implementation of the instruction of the Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, “which gives a keen interest to the improvement of the local workforce in the wilayas of the South through the activation of training programs”, explained Mr. Ould.

Thus, the SONATRACH group has provided an educational infrastructure equipped with adequate resources for the smooth running of this training program for 43 trainees, for a period of six months.

This training centre is attached to the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP), training tool of SONATRACH group, and this, to ensure the smooth running and educational monitoring of the training programme that is provided by the executives of the national company hydrocarbons.

At the end of the course, this specialised professional training will be sanctioned by a certificate to facilitate the integration of young people into professional life and meet the needs of the hydrocarbon sector.

In this regard, Mr. Ould Kaddour highlighted the imperative to develop specialties in trades related to hydrocarbons such as welding.

“Why bring back Chinese or Filipinos to weld the pipelines? Do you think Algerians cannot do it? We need to have specialties and develop our know-how,” he insisted.

In this sense, he reassured trainees of this first class that they will have a work contract, once the training is over: “This way, you can integrate easily into professional life,” he said.
