The Sniffers has announced that the company has partnered with Keneco Environmental Inc. to serve the oil and gas market with best-in-class leak detection and repair (LDAR) services as part of a legislated fugitive emissions management plan (FEMP) – AER Directive 60.
The Sniffers, founded in 1991 and headquartered in Belgium, offers emission reduction services such as LDAR and leak detection on storage tanks, energy saving projects for flare and steam-losses, and underground pipeline integrity services. With more than 8000 successful projects and almost 30 years of experience in the industry, The Sniffers’ specialists now bring their expertise and knowledge to the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin together with Keneco Environmental Inc.
“With the 2020 Directive 060 – LDAR regulation in place, Canadian oil and gas companies are looking for a reliable partner to keep their operations compliant with this FEMP regulation. By merging our experience with Keneco’s extensive network, we can help customers in Canada measure and report accurate and reliable fugitive emission figures.
“We are currently also working with Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) to develop an ALT-FEMP plan allowing clients to save time and money in their survey and reporting under Directive 60. Besides the three annual surveys using optical gas imaging measurement at defined locations as set by AER, The Sniffers and Keneco also offer a dedicated methane accounting programme to identify and quantify methane emissions. By creating an inventory of all sources and quantifying the emissions using the best available techniques, they create a credible baseline for the customer. After the current situation is mapped, customers can track their emission performance with emission management software SFEMP.
