New pipeline contract for Sempra Energy

Sempra Energy has announced that its Mexican unit Infraestructura Energética Nova, S.A.B. de C.V. (IEnova) – through its subsidiary Gasoducto de Aguaprieta S. de R. L. de C.V. – has been awarded a natural gas transportation contract in Chihuahua by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE).

The project will comprise a header facility with a capacity of 3 billion ft3/d of natural gas, and an approximately 14-mile pipeline with a capacity of 1135 million ft3/d of natural gas. The pipeline will provide natural gas to the Norte III Combined Cycle Power Generation Plant and will interconnect with Gasoductos de Chihuahua, Tarahumara, and Samalayuca-Sásabe pipelines.

The estimated US$108 million project is expected to begin operations during the first quarter of 2017. The project is contracted by CFE under a 25-year capacity contract denominated in US dollars.
