Sempra Energy announces appointments

Sempra Energy has recently announced several executive appointments as part of the company's leadership development and succession planning process. Except those noted otherwise, the following appointments are effective 1 January 2017.

Debra Reed, Chairman and CEO of Sempra Energy, commented: "We and our board of directors spend considerable time and effort identifying talented leaders within the organisation and exposing them to different aspects of our business. Today's appointments represent another step forward in our succession planning process."

Mark Snell, President of Sempra Energy since 2011, announced his plans to retire from the company on 1 March 2017. Snell was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sempra Energy between 2006 and 2011.

As Group President between 2004 and 2005, he oversaw all aspects of Sempra Energy's activities in competitive energy markets, including energy trading, electric generation, liquefied natural gas (LNG), pipelines and storage facilities, international utilities and retail energy marketing.

Joseph Householder who is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sempra Energy, will be named to the newly created position, of Corporate Group President of Infrastructure Businesses.

Steven Davis, currently the Executive Vice President of External Affairs and Corporate Strategy for Sempra Energy, will be the new Corporate Group President of Utilities. He will also chair the Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) boards of directors.

Jeffrey Martin who is currently Chairman, President and CEO of SDG&E, will become Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sempra Energy.

Dennis Arriola – currently Chairman, President and CEO of SoCalGas – will become the Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and External Affairs for Sempra Energy.

Patricia Wagner who is currently the President and CEO of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, will become CEO of SoCalGas, reporting to Mr Davis. Until she assumes her new position in January, Wagner has been appointed as an Executive Vice President for Sempra Energy.

Effective immediately, J. Bret Lane has been appointed President of SoCalGas and will continue in his role as SoCalGas' COO.

Scott Drury who is currently the Chief Energy Supply Officer for SDG&E, will become President of SDG&E, also reporting to Mr Davis.

Caroline Winn, Chief Energy Delivery Officer for SDG&E, will become COO of SDG&E, reporting to Mr Drury.
