Sino-Kazakhstan oil and gas co-operation agreement signed in Beijing

On 8 June, Wang Yilin met in Beijing with Kazakh President Nazarbayev, who is paying a state visit in China and attending the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation Summit in Qingdao. Wang has also held talks with Bozumbayev, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, and Sauat Mynbayev, CEO of KazMunayGas (KMG), respectively.

After the talks, Wang Yilin and Bozumbayev signed the Agreement on Extension of Petroleum Contracts and Deepening Oil and Gas Co-operation between China National Petroleum Corporation and Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan. Both parties agreed to further energy co-operation and make new contributions to the economic and trade development of the two countries. The two sides also exchanged views on issues including increasing Kazakhstan's natural gas exports to China and strengthening the construction of oil and gas production facilities.

Mambayev extended his congratulations on the signing of the co-operation agreement between CNPC and the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan. Then he exchanged views with Wang Yilin on natural gas sales, pipeline operations and other related issues.

President Nazarbayev highly praised the achievements of CNPC in the Sino-Kazakhstan oil and gas co-operation, and awarded Wang Yilin the Friendship Medal of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is the highest honour bestowed by Kazakhstan on a foreign entrepreneur.
