World Pipelines,
Transneft Siberia’s Uray Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate has connected three reconstructed sections of the main leg of the Surgut-Polotsk oil trunk pipeline to the system in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra and Sverdlovsk Region.
The set of works on replacement of the pipeline sections was carried out according to the inline inspection results under the Company’s technical upgrading and revamping programme. The total length of the pipeline’s replaced sections was 19.5 km.
The works at one of the sections began in October 2018. Revamping of the other two sections began in December last year. The construction of new sections was carried out in the corridor of the operating oil pipeline. By now, the construction and installation works have been fully completed, strength and tightness of the reconstructed areas has been tested, and technical and biological rehabilitation of the disturbed lands has been conducted.
The revamping of the Surgut-Polotsk OTP main leg was carried out to ensure emergency-free operation and environmental safety of Transneft Siberia’s system of oil trunk pipelines.

When the tanks are full, the liquefied carbon dioxide will be loaded onto a dedicated carrier from Royal Wagenborg and shipped to the INEOS Nini platform in the Danish North Sea. From there, it will be safely injected via pipeline into subsurface reservoirs approximately 1800 m beneath the seabed for permanent storage.
