New President of IPLOCA

Atul Punj, Chairman of the diversified EPC conglomerate, Punj Lloyd, has been unanimously elected as the President of International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association 2015-16 (IPLOCA), the reputed international industry body representing over 240 key players in the onshore and offshore pipeline construction industry worldwide.

Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, IPLOCA’s inception can be traced back to 1966 when the then leaders of the international pipeline construction industry established the IPLCA as the international division of the Pipe Line Contractors Association of the US.

Atul, who has been on the IPLOCA Board as Director, East & Far East since last year will be taking over the baton from Jean-Claude Van de Wiele. As the President of IPLOCA, Atul will be at the helm of decisions to promote the highest standards in the pipeline industry and facilitate business opportunities for the various members.

On this win Atul said: “I feel privileged. With the comprehensive experience that Punj Lloyd has in pipelines globally, I feel upbeat about this new role. I am enthusiastic and hope to add value to the workings of IPLOCA which has been actively engaging the industry through various forums and collaborating to brave the challenges the industry has been facing including geopolitical issues, inhospitable terrain and the lack of qualified manpower.”

Atul was responsible for the success of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in the mountains of Georgia and Turkey and the 48” dia pipeline in the desert of Oman. In India, Punj Lloyd has been associated with projects of strategic importance including the Dahej Vijaipur Pipeline, Dabhol Bangalore, East West Gas Pipeline. Punj Lloyd’s knowledge of local laws, understanding of global terrain, its adaptability to harsh weather conditions, and quick mobility of equipment and people, made it one of the world’s preferred EPC Pipeline contractors.
