Carboline releases new epoxy pipe linings for gas flow improvement
Carboline Company has announced the release of Polyclad 951, Polyclad 952 and Polyclad 956 high performance epoxy pipe lining products specifically designed to increase the flow of natural gas.
These products meet and exceed all requirements of API RP 5L2 for gas transmission pipelines. They act as a flowliner, creating a smooth surface on the interior of pipes to increase flow efficiency and reduce energy cost of transporting natural gas.
Increasing pipe flow efficiency
Polyclad 951, Polyclad 952 and Polyclad 953 have an invariably smooth surface that results in low friction. Decreasing friction with these Carboline products can increase pipe flow efficiency up to 6%. Lining the interior of pipes will also help to keep gas pure and prevent corrosion, thereby reducing the need for pipe maintenance. Utilising a flowliner will also prevent corrosion during pipe storage.
These flowliners can withstand temperatures of up to 120°C in dry service. Having excellent chemical resistance, these products will withstand pigging operations as well.
Efficient operations
Mitch Connor, Pipeline Market Manager, said “With a global demand from the pipeline market, Carboline designed these products to meet the varying demands of applicators whiles satisfying requirements of the pipeline operator. Using these flowliners will significantly reduce energy needed to transport natural gas and is critical for pipeline performance while greatly increasing revenue in pipeline operations.”
Carboline understands the demands gas companies face to sustain efficient operations while operating at maximum capacity. The addition of these products enhances Carboline’s solutions to the gas pipeline market.
