Gas exports to Europe high and stable

World Pipelines,

Gassco transported 114.2 billion m3 of gas during 2018 through the pipeline system it operates between Norway and Europe. That corresponds to nine times annual Norwegian hydropower output.

“Norway’s gas deliveries to Europe are stably high, and exports in 2018 were the second-highest ever,” says Gassco CEO, Frode Leversund.

“This shows that Norwegian gas is regarded as an attractive and reliable energy source for European consumers.”

A new record for summer deliveries to Europe was also set in 2018, with no less than 36.8 billion m3 of gas exported from May to August.

“Availability for delivering gas in the transport system was over 99% in 2018,” says Leversund. “This is a strong figure, and we’re very proud of it.

“Norwegian gas has many competitive advantages, but the fact that the integrated transport system, with process plants and terminals, runs steadily with the lowest possible climate impact is something we work had to achieve every single day.”

Deliveries of natural gas liquids (NGLs) and condensate from the process plants at Kårstø, Kollsnes (via Vestprosess) and Nyhamna totalled 10.3 million t in 2018.
