World Pipelines,
API has applauded the US Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for its decision to advance the nominations of Neil Chatterjee and Rob Powelson to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The institute has called on the full Senate to take immediate action to approve these nominees.
The current lack of quorum in FERC is preventing the agency from taking action on major gas pipeline requests.
“Today’s action brings us one step closer to a functional FERC,” said API’s Midstream and Industry Operations Group Director, Robin Rorick. “With a quorum, FERC will be able to fully evaluate and advance critical infrastructure projects around the nation and to set vital market rules.
Rorick added: “Private investment in our nation’s energy infrastructure is a more than US$1 trillion proposition that could support an estimated 1 million jobs per year through 2035. Today’s action brings US consumers, workers and the environment closer to fully realising the benefits of the US energy renaissance. We applaud today’s action and urge the full Senate to quickly approve these well-qualified nominees.”

When the tanks are full, the liquefied carbon dioxide will be loaded onto a dedicated carrier from Royal Wagenborg and shipped to the INEOS Nini platform in the Danish North Sea. From there, it will be safely injected via pipeline into subsurface reservoirs approximately 1800 m beneath the seabed for permanent storage.
