Prism Energy, an Aberdeen-based project and risk management consultancy to the energy sector, announced on Wednesday 5 July it had acquired Mandos Software for an undisclosed sum.

Mandos Software was established in 1999 to develop software to help organisations to run more efficiently and effectively, and comply with appropriate legislation and standards, by defining and communicating their key business processes. Their author software is used in a range of organisations of varying sizes, both in the UK and overseas. It is based on a pragmatic view of business processes and management practice and is relevant for all business sectors.

Prism Energy is a leading project and risk management consultancy company that has developed Prism Apps, its own cloud-based project management system for risk management, action management, lessons learned and management of change. The system is used extensively in the oil and gas and renewable industries.

Andy Sutherland, Managing Director of Prism Energy says, “As an organisation, Prism strive to work effectively alongside our clients to help them deliver projects by managing risk, actions, lessons learned and other key project management elements. Quality management is a key component of successful project delivery and I immediately recognised that the author software, produced by Mandos Software, was the perfect fit as we looked to introduce quality management systems and services into our business. Peter is very well respected in the quality management field, and we look forward to carrying on the mantle of his impressive work.”

“As a software-based consultancy, we always look at how we can best utilise and develop technology to digitise key elements of common process to enable companies to deliver projects more efficiently but above all, safely. We manage a wide range of onshore and offshore projects, including pipeline scopes, subsea, topsides and decommissioning projects, and are proud that our systems have now been adopted by thousands of people in the oil and gas industry who are seeing the benefits.”

The Prism Energy team headquartered in Aberdeen city’s Rubislaw Terrace sits at 20 members of staff. Mandos’ Founder and Managing Director, Peter Fraser moves into retirement following a career in software development and quality management. Peter will retain an interest in management systems through his consultancy Process Principles Limited.

Peter Fraser, Mandos’ Founder and Managing Director, says, “We are delighted that we have found an organisation with the same mindset and approach as ours to develop our author process management software further for the cloud environment. With users as far afield as California and China, Mandos developed a reputation over the years for supporting organisations that want to understand and improve how they work using a best practice approach to process definition, management and communication. I wish Andy and the Prism team the best for the future and know that the software is in safe hands.”
