GMC was named as a finalist for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers International (ASME) Global Pipeline Award. The award recognises outstanding innovations and technological advances in the field of pipeline transportation, and GMC was nominated for its Intelligently Connected Pipe (ICP™).

The Award acknowledges the pipeline technology innovation process in all phases; from the research laboratory through field application.

GMC’s ICP™ features include an ISO certified, fatigue resistant, innovative reusable pin and a box style mechanical connector that is pre-manufactured to the pipe ends onshore in a controlled environment, eliminating the need for time consuming offshore welding and expensive installation and lay vessels.

“When the winner was announced at the ASME Rio Pipeline Conference in Rio de Janeiro near the end of [September], we didn’t come out on top, but we were extremely excited about our selection as a finalist for the 2015 ASME Global Pipeline Award, it is a great accolade,” commented GMC COO, Glen Viau. “We began development of our ICP program in 2006 with the goal to create a game changing product in the pipeline industry. To be recognised by ASME for our innovation in pipeline technology in under a decade is more motivation to continue our work to revolutionise the industry, we feel just like winners!”
