SOCAR Summer School 2014 launched

On 4 August, SOCAR Summer School 2014 project was launched in official ceremony held in Ramada-Baku Hotel. Khalik Mammadov, SOCAR Vice President of HR, IT and regulations, welcomed the Summer School attendees and congratulated them on their success.

He spoke about the achievements of the new oil strategy founded by National leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully developed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Khalik Mammadov emphasised the importance of the training programmes organised by SOCAR and explained the goals of the SOCAR Summer Schools. Hundreds of young talents have been involved in SOCAR scholarship programmes since 2005 and more than one hundred of them are continuing their education at the world’s leading universities now. 

Most of the Summer School lecturers are SOCAR scholarship programme alumni who are working now at the company’s offices and enterprises. Khalik Mammadov underlined that since 2012 SOCAR employees have also been involved in Summer School project alongside with the students. On the initiative of SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, guided tours are organised to SOCAR offices abroad for the distinguished attendees. 

This year they will attend internship programme in SOCAR offices in Turkey and Georgia. SOCAR Summer School-2014 will work until 13 August, 2014 and organise lectures and workshops on interesting topics related to oil and gas field’s geology and geophysics, drilling technology, oil and gas production, transportation and storage, environmental norms and alternative energy sources, oil and oil products marketing, oil price setting and etc. The students will visit SOCAR offices and enterprises to see production process.
