One of Teesside’s leading engineering companies – Pipeline Precision Engineering Ltd (PPE) – won an Export Award at the highly acclaimed North East Business Awards in recognition of its outstanding exporting capabilities. Based in Skelton, PPE were crowned winners in the Teesside heats of the prestigious awards as the business has generated substantial and sustained increases in its export activity over the last year.
In determining the winner, the judges considered a number of factors including the level of exports in relation to the size of the company as well as any barriers that the business has had to overcome.
Established in 2009, PPE operates predominately in the oil and gas industry possessing an impressive track record in designing and manufacturing steel pressure vessels, piping structures and specialist pipeline equipment to clients across the globe.
Speaking about the company’s award win, Simon Hannar, Managing Director, and founder of the PPE business said: “We are thrilled to have received acknowledgement for our exporting efforts. It is even more rewarding to receive such recognition as PPE continues to grow the business and our exporting activities during the last couple of years whilst the oil and gas industry has been particularly turbulent.
“We believe we have been successful in doing so as we have extensive experience coupled with a team of technical specialists in a particularly niche field. We have built a strong reputation for delivering the highest quality solutions that are tailor made to our clients’ needs and have very much become the go to provider in our field.”
Trading in an extremely competitive and niche market in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, PPE continues to retain a notable share of the market and currently exports over 65% of all business. Its world class solutions have been deployed across the globe from Portugal, Russia and Nigeria through to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Mozambique and many more countries.
With an impressive portfolio of clients, the company’s end users of its engineering design and fabrication services have included major players such as the likes of Saipem, Total Oil Co, Saudi Aramco and Samsung to name a few.
Simon said: “The industry is changing and, as such, we have become well equipped to overcome challenges that we may potentially face as a worldwide supplier. We are now seeing an increased demand for large, full turnkey solutions and this is great for us as we have the full capabilities to deliver complete end to end projects from concept and manufacture through to factory testing and deployment on site.
“As such, we can see the business continuing to grow – both in the UK and on a global scale - through winning such projects and we are delighted to have a healthy pipeline of work for the rest of the year.”
PPE will join nano-purification solutions Ltd, winner of the Northumberland and Tyneside heats and Katy Sue Designs Ltd, winner of the Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside heats at the grand final in May.
PPE has over 80 years combined experience in delivering engineering design and fabrication services in the mechanical, pipework, structural and precision engineering industry across a range of sectors around the world. Successful project clients include companies such as ExxonMobil, Genesis Oil and Gas, Shell, BP, and ConocoPhillips.
