The Fibre Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the nation’s premier trade association dedicated to fibre optic sensing, announced the election of four board members, as well as its officer slate for 2024, at the organisation’s Annual Meeting in December.
Four directors were elected for two year FOSA Board terms:
• Dr. Paul Dickinson, Director of Business Development, Dura-Line
• Heather Dunn, General Manager, OFS SPD
• Kyle Glaeser, Director of Emerging Networks, Underline Infrastructure
• Steven Koles, President and CEO, Hifi
Officers chosen were:
• Paul Dickinson, Dura-Line (Chairman)
• Jon Beckman, VIAVI Solutions, (Vice Chairman)
• Steven Koles, Hifi (Treasurer)
• Nilson Gabela, Corning Incorporated, (Secretary)
Five directors remain through 2024, completing the second of their two year terms: Jon Beckman, Director of Business Operations, VIAVI Solutions; Dave Cunningham, Vice President of Marketing, Network Integrity Systems; Dr. Wieland Hill, Director of Instruments R & D, AP Sensing; JJ Williams, Global Commercial Director, LUNA Innovations; and Nilson Gabela, Global Market and Technology Manager, Corning Incorporated.
“With increased urgency, as global upgrades to critical telecommunications, transportation, and utility infrastructure occur, the Fibre Optic Sensing Association and its members are committed to protecting these vital assets with innovative solutions,” said returning FOSA Chairman, Dr. Paul Dickinson of Dura-Line. “Our Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing (DFOS) technologies convert fibre optic cables to dense arrays of distributed sensors capable of immediately detecting and pinpointing vibration aberrations, temperature fluctuations and strain anomalies. As a result, events can be categorised over vast distances, supporting asset operators with real-time alerts and alarms. Modernising infrastructure by integrating DFOS increases resilience and improves return on overall investment.”
Incoming Vice Chairman, Jon Beckman of VIAVI Solutions added “We look forward to growing and diversifying FOSA to fuel expansion of optical sensing markets in the coming years. Continuously our technology solutions add capabilities for many vertical markets, and FOSA is poised to help its members expand in these arenas.”
