Work on TAPI to commence this month

According to news sources, a senior Pakistani official has stated that a route survey and detailed engineering and feasibility studies on the long-awaited 1680 km Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, will take place in Pakistan this month.
As cited by the Hindustan Times, The Express Tribune reported that German firm, ILF, has been awarded the project management consultant contract by the TAPI company. It also reported that Pakistan’s Inter State Gas Systems Managing Director, Mobin Saulat, said that the consultant is ready to conduct the route survey, detailed engineering and feasibility study this month.
The Express Tribune also reported work would be initiated in Pakistan before proceeding to Afghanistan and that both pipeline construction and gas field development has started in Turkmenistan.
A US$10 billion investment agreement for TAPI has been signed by Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India in a bid to kick off activities. Under the agreement, Turkmenistan will invest approximately US$25 billion to deliver 3.2 billion ft3/d of gas to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
US$15 billion will be invested in developing the gas field, with US$10 billion will be spent on laying the pipeline.
