Further to its announcement on 14 October 2015, Intertek has announced the successful completion of the transaction to acquire Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI), under which Hi-Tech Testing Services, Inc., a provider of non-destructive testing (NDT) services in the US and part of PSI, will join Intertek’s Industry Services business line.

Hi-Tech offers NDT services to the oil and gas market, primarily for the mid-stream operational/pipeline sectors, and also supports customers in the pulp and paper, railcar, fabrication, chemical and transportation industries.

“The acquisition of Hi-Tech’s expert non-destructive testing services further demonstrates Intertek’s commitment to helping customers maximise their investment in not only new construction, but also ongoing asset maintenance,” said Stefan Butz, Chief Executive Industry, COO Europe & China at Intertek.

“By combining our service portfolio with Hi-Tech’s NDT services, we are better positioned to support our customers, who depend on expertise, access to a complete portfolio of high-quality technical services, and strong geographic presence to provide them with comprehensive services.”

As the fifth key investment in NDT services, the addition of Hi-Tech positions Intertek is a major provider of NDT services across four international hubs which include the previous acquisitions of NDT Services Ltd in the UK, Global X-Ray & Testing Corporation in the US, INSPEC in the UAE and Adelaide Inspection Services (AIS) in Australia.

Hi-Tech employs 300 personnel across 11 locations in eight States. Integrating Hi-Tech’s NDT services with Intertek’s global portfolio of technical services provides local and global customers access to a broad suite of quality and safety services, including testing, inspection, consultancy, certification and training services.

“Hi-Tech was founded on the core principals of safety, quality, ethics, and forging strong client relationships,” said Richard Bundrick, COO of Hi-Tech. “This is an exciting opportunity for Hi-Tech that will allow our combined forces to better serve our clients from a stronger geographic and quality resources platform. We are truly excited to now be part of one of the most high-quality NDT industry leading service providers in the country.”
