Strohm creates new strategic role to support ambition to reduce carbon footprint of pipelines worldwide

Reporting directly to CEO Oliver Kassam and based in Ijmuiden, The Netherlands, Caroline Justet has been promoted from her key account management position for Strohm to a newly created global executive role. She will be responsible for developing the firm’s energy transition strategy, introducing new Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) product lines, and growing Strohm’s footprint in the offshore wind, hydrogen, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) markets.

Mrs Justet has worked at Strohm since 2018 as key account manager and business development manager. She was integral to the success of Total’s and ExxonMobil’s first joint qualification programme with the firm to qualify TCP for hydrocarbon applications.

With a MBA in International Management and an engineering background, Mrs Justet has worked for over 14 years in the energy industry mainly in project management and commercial roles at Fives Cryo, Technip, and Vallourec.

Strohm’s TCP is a?low carbon footprint, strong, non-corrosive, and spoolable pipe technology that offers a 60% reduced CO2 footprint compared to steel alternatives. On taking up her new role, Mrs Justet said: “Strohm has a 14-year track record in supplying TCP to the energy sector. As more operators look to develop low-carbon businesses, our proactivity in creating new TCP solutions will drive long-term value. Unlike steel or unbonded flexible pipes, TCP does not corrode when exposed to CO2. TCP also does not become brittle with exposure to hydrogen. It is a more sustainable product as it has the lowest carbon footprint and is proven to be durable for over 30 years.

“Hydrogen and renewables are set to be amongst the largest growing industries of the 21st Century and I’m very proud to be accelerating Strohm’s vision and exciting plans forward.”

Mr Kassam added: “With Caroline’s experience, network and in-depth knowledge of our business, we are well positioned to identify new challenges and harness opportunities for TCP. We have already begun developing our solution for CCUS projects offshore and successfully completed several studies that prove TCP as the best technical and economical solution in this highly corrosive environment as well as for green hydrogen. The technology can be pulled through existing infrastructure with low friction and be terminated in the field, reducing development costs and simplifying environmental assessment.”

Strohm recently became a Climate Neutral organization, certified by the Climate Neutral Group, as part of its vocation to provide the world with the lowest GHG emission pipeline solution.
